The
city of Miramichi lies on both shores of the Miramichi River, long known for its legendary salmon fishing and unspoiled natural
beauty. The famous river runs through Northumberland County and empties into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Historically, the name
"Miramichi" referred to the entire river valley, as well as all of its towns and seaports. It is still used in this context
today.
We encourage you to read about the historical agreement signed between
our community and that of County Monaghan, Ireland. This agreement has solidified our Irish roots with strong modern ties
