Not to be forgotten during the Festival is the annual tradition of the gathering of the clans... Miramichi style. Family reunions form an important part of the Festival and the much-loved walking parade on Saturday. Families such as the Clan MacCarthy, the Gormans, the Fitzpatricks and the International Gathering of the Kellys have taken place during the Festival in past years.

The International Gathering of the Keatings will be held in Miramichi, NB, July 19-22, 2001, during the 18th annual Canada's Irish Festival in the City of Miramichi. Registration fee is $20 per adult. Registration and other "Keating" activities are FREE for family members 18 years of age and under. Participation in Irish Festival activities is an important element in the Keating Gathering program.

You are eligible, most welcomed and encouraged to attend if you are a Keating, married to a Keating or have Keating lineage. Come and enjoy our heritage, our namesake.

KEATING... this ancient name we bear is derives from the Irish name Ceitinn which means "sword or shower of fire" and it signifies the descendant of Ceatfhaidh, meaning the sensible one. It was first take by John Fitz Williams to differentiate him from his older brothers the Fitz Geralds. Since he (John) was the first to take this unique name, we are probably all related. Now is our time to gather under the umbrella of the Miramichi Irish Festival to celebrate our Irish roots 'neath a rainbow of everything that is truly Irish.
