Trace Your Irish Roots

Have you ever wondered how you'd start to trace your Irish roots? Linda Evans, former editor of The Shamrock Leaf will present workshops on Friday and Saturday at this year's festival on how to start, what resources to use, how to record your information and the enjoyment you will have in learning about your genealogy.

Evans has spent a number of years tracing the genealogy of of Irish families in southeastern New Brunswick. Primarily from church records, she's worked out massive family trees representing families such as the Murphys, Donovand, Donahues and others.

Her research has enabled her to learn a lot about the Irish families that crossed the Atlantic looking for a better life. Whether they left during the 1820's, 1830's or during the height of the famine in the 1840's, dependedon conditions in Ireland at the time. Evans' sessions will allow you both the chances to learn how to begin tracing your genealogy, as well as to understand your ancestor's reasons for leaving Ireland.
