All of the children's events will be held at the New Brunswick Community College, on both Friday and Saturday afternoons. Most events are scheduled for the same time on the two days, with minor exceptions.

Music workshops are being offered ni a variety of formats as something all the family can enjoy. One can listen to Irish humour through song, as performed by Hal an Tow and Bernie Houlahan. ALternatively, one can enjoy the sounds of some talented young local musicians under the direction of Don Rigley. If you are interested in learning about playing a musical instrument, there is the tin whistle workshop offered by Jim Stewart and Hal an Tow, or an introduction to the Irish Harp offered by harpists Ardyth and Jennifer. These workshops are open to all ages.

Storytelling is another feature of the Children's Festival. Barry MacKenzie and Willow Edwards will be regaling Irish tales. These will be separate sessions, allowing folk to hear different stories from Ireland's great wealth of tales, myths and legends. Barry's session will take place on Friday afternoon only.

Maureen Haley, with the Haley School of Dancers, is offering an introduction to Irish Dance for Children. This is an activity sure to get their wee toes tappin'! Donna Flanagan will be encouraging the children's creativity as she conducts a craft session with an Irish theme. As well, a one-act play, 'The Lost Brogan," will be performed by the Nelson Doyle Dancers. ALthough the title may not be familiar, this is a well-known tale but with a unique Irish twist.

The Leprechaun Contest will return again this year. It will take place on Saturday, July 21 at 12 noon in the NBCC gymnasium, immediately following the Family Walking Parade. Children are encouraged to dress up as leprechauns, and make their way to the gym for registration. Contact person at the registration desk will be Willow Edwards. Those acting as judges include Maureen Coughlan, Theresa Connell and Gina Whitty. Prizes will be offered in two categories, for children 6 years and under, and for those aged 7-12. Festival organizers hope for a good turn out of wee folk on that day.
